Several filmmakers have been taking the digital plunge, and the latest seems to be ace director Mani Ratnam. According to reports, the Chekka Chivantha Vaanam filmmaker will be producing a series for Amazon Prime.

Themed on the navarasas, the series will consist of nine episodes helmed by nine filmmakers. Reports suggest that Gautham Vasudev Menon, Karthick Naren, Bejoy Nambiar, and Arvind Swamy, are already on board to direct, with Mani Ratnam directing one episode himself. Part of the income from the series will apparently be given to workers of Tamil Film Industry, who have been out of work due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies recently produced Vaanam Kottatum, starring Radikaa, Sarath Kumar, Vikram Prabhu, and Aishwarya Rajesh. The director had also been working on his adaptation of Ponniyin Selvan, production of which was stalled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
