Breaking: Music composer Shashi Preetam suffers heart attack

The Gulabi music director underwent angioplasty on Thursday and his condition remains stable with ongoing active medical support at cardiac ICU

Tollywood music composer and singer-songwriter Shashi Preetam of Gulabi fame suffered a heart attack on Thursday. He was rushed to a private hospital in Banjara Hills and was admitted to the ICU. The doctors from the cardiology department performed an angioplasty and his condition remains stable now.

Confirming the news, the hospital authorities said, "Shashi Preetam was brought to the hospital in a serious condition and upon diagnosis, we figured out that he was suffering from Myocardial Infarction (MI) and performed angioplasty on Thursday. His health condition continues to remain stable with ongoing active medical support at the cardiac ICU."

Shashi Preetam made his debut as a music composer with director Krishna Vamsi's romantic action entertainer Gulabi (1995). Starring JD Chakravarthy and Maheswari, the film was produced by Ram Gopal Varma in association with Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited. Shashi also made his Hindi debut with director Mani Shankar's spy thriller Mukhbiir (2008).
