The Hyderabad Cybercrime police have registered cases on unknown netizens for making objectionable and abusive comments on actor Meera Chopra on Twitter.

The Cybercrime Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) KVM Prasad said that they have registered cases under section 67 Information Technology (IT) Act and 506 (Criminal intimidation) and 509 (insult of modesty of a woman) of IPC.

Responding to a question of a user on Twitter, the Bangaram actor, on Tuesday, had stated that she did not know Jr NTR and is not a fan of the actor. Her response did not go down too well with Jr NTR fans, who trolled her with abusive comments on social media.

The actor lodged a complaint with Hyderabad police and National Commissioner for Women. The NCW officials contacted the Telangana police and urged them to take necessary action.

The Commission officials have taken up the matter with Telangana Police and a case has been registered with the Cybercrime police. The NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma has also asked Women Safety DIG B Sumathi to look into the issue and send a report.
