The crew of Avatar sequels, including filmmaker James Cameron and 50 others, have reached New Zealand to resume filming.

The 54-member unit arrived at Wellington on Sunday by a chartered plane. According to a report in Variety, the team will have to self-isolate before resuming shoot.

Cameron said, "I want to get back to work on Avatar, which right now we're not allowed to do under state emergency laws or rules. So it's all on hold right now."

Producer Jon Landau posted photos on Instagram and shared that the crew would self-isolate for 14 days as per New Zealand government's guidelines.
 

The work on the Avatar sequels in New Zealand came to a grinding halt in March due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Ever since, the makers have been eager to resume production. On May 22, Landau shared that the Avatar sets were ready. "We couldn’t be more excited to be headed back to New Zealand next week," he added.

The four sequels of Avatar were scheduled for release on December 17 2021, December 2023, December 2025, and December 2027, respectively. With the recent delay due to the lockdown, it is unclear if these dates will be pushed.
