Aanand L Rai's Atrangi Re, starring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush, went on floors in March, just weeks before the nationwide lockdown was announced due to the coronavirus pandemic. The first schedule of the film was shot in Varanasi and the team is planning to resume the second schedule this October in Madurai. This will be followed by shooting with Akshay Kumar in Delhi and then Mumbai, for more than a month.

The romantic drama is said to follow two parallel narratives from different timelines. Sara is expected to play a dual role, with Dhanush and Akshay playing her lovers in each track.

Written by Himanshu Sharma and produced by Colour Yellow Productions, Atrangi Re has music by AR Rahman.

"During this lockdown, I've taken out a lot of time to prepare for the upcoming schedules of Atrangi Re. I'm really excited to start the next schedule which is planned to happen in Madurai October onwards and then with Akshay for a month in Delhi and Mumbai, with all the safety precautions of course," Anand said in a statement.
