Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans are set to star in Avengers-fame Russo brothers' upcoming Netflix spy thriller, The Gray Man. Helmed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Mark Greaney. The film will reportedly start production in January.

Screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, known for their works in Captain America and Avengers, have also helped pen the script. The film will be bankrolled by Russo brothers' AGBO company.

"The idea is to create a franchise and build out a whole universe. We have all committed to the first movie and that's got to be great to get us to the second movie. We think Netflix is the perfect place for this film," Joe told Deadline.

The Gray Man revolves around an ex-CIA operative turned assassin named Court Gentry, played by Gosling, and another former CIA agent Lloyd Hansen, played by Evans.

The announcement of this big-budget film at an estimate of USD 200 million for Netflix comes following the success of Chris Hemsworth's Extraction, which became one of the most-watched films in its first four weeks of release on the streaming platform.
