Netflix is reportedly developing a sequel to the Sandra Bullock-starrer Bird Box. The news was shared by author Josh Malerman whose debut novel of the same name was the basis of the first film. Josh has developed a sequel novel titled Malorie.

In an interview with Inverse, Josh said, "Malorie opens at the school for the blind, which is where the movie ends. Then it jumps a few years later, and it really takes off 10 years after that. I can’t say much, but I can say that it is in development. Sometimes it’s weird, all this secrecy, but I’m game.”

The original film was directed by Susanne Bier and starred, in addition to Bullock, John Malkovich, Sarah Paulson, Trevante Rhodes, and Tom Hollander, among others.

The novel was adapted for the screen by writer Eric Heisserer. Though the film met with mixed reviews, it attracted an enviable amount of viewers in the first week of its premiere.
