A new TV spinoff based on Matt Reeves' The Batman has been announced by the HBO Max. The new series, which is yet to be titled, will be developed by Matt Reeves and Terrace Winter (Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos). The police drama series will be set in Gotham City and in the same universe as Robert Pattinson's upcoming film.

It will be produced by Dylan Clar (also producing The Batman film) and Warner Bros Television. However, casting details are yet to be revealed as the series is still in early stages of production.

Meanwhile, the shooting of Matt Reeves' much-awaited superhero film was suspended halfway due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The Robert Pattinson-starrer, which was initially set to hit the screens in June 2021, has been pushed to October 1, 2021.
