After playing supporting roles in films like Ye Maaya Chesave, Orange and Arjun Reddy, Sanjay Swaroop will be seen in a negative role in his upcoming film, Akshara. The actor, who was last seen in Mis(s)Match, has been roped in to play the villain in the film directed by B Chinni Krishna.

Tipped to be a women-centric film with a social message, Akshara is set in a college and the story revolves around the issues with women's education.

"It is the importance of the character that has prompted Sanjay to be a part of Akshara. He will be seen as the chairman of a corporate college where the film's leading lady, Nandita Swetha works as a lecturer. He is delighted to play this role which gives an entirely new dimension to the actor in him," says a source.

Produced by Ahiteja Bellamkonda and Suresh Varma Alluri, the film's teaser has created a positive buzz on social media and several OTT players are said to be interested in its digital streaming rights.
