Ajay Devgn-starrer Maidaan has a new release date. The film, which was earlier scheduled for release on December 11 this year, will now arrive on August 13, 2021, during the Independence Day week.

Producer Boney Kapoor announced the revised release date via Twitter.

Maidaan tells the story of legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Directed by Amit Ravindranath Sharma, the film is set during the golden age of Indian football (1952-1962).

The cast includes stars southern actor Priyamani as the female lead, as well as Gajraj Rao and Rudranil Ghosh. The film was shot extensively in Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai.

Amidst the lockdown, a massive outdoor set built in Mumbai’s Madh Island had to be dismantled. A new set will be erected post-monsoon and the shoot is expected to start again by November.

Ajay Devgn’s upcoming release is Bhuj: The Pride of India. The period war film will premiere directly on Disney+ Hotstar.
