Kathir, who played Vijay's friend in Atlee's Bigil and followed it up with a lead role in another sports-based film, Jada, last year, has reportedly signed a superhit remake. Rumours are rife that Kathir will be seen playing the lead role in the Tamil remake of 2019 Malayalam superhit Ishq.

Directed by Anuraj Manohar, Ishq had Shane Nigam and Kalidas heroine Ann Sheetal in lead roles. The film followed a young couple, who are mentally and physically harassed by two men, while on a road trip, which puts their love to test.

The Tamil version is said to be directed by Shiv Mohaa, who had previously directed Zero starring Ashwin and Sshivada. The remake will be produced by Eagle Eye productions, which previously bankrolled Petromax.
