Jaanu release date locked

Jaanu, the Telugu remake of the Tamil romantic drama 96, will be released on February 7, announced its makers. Helmed by C Prem Kumar, who also wrote and directed the original, the film will see Samantha Akkineni and Sharwanand stepping into the shoes of Trisha Krishnan and Vijay Sethupathi.

The first look poster and teaser of the film were released recently and expectations are high given the Tamil film became a runaway hit at the box-office.

96 tells the story of long-lost lovers meeting after more than two decades. The film was remade in Kannada last year as 99, with Ganesh and Bhavana in the lead.

The director has earlier informed Cinema Express that he is staying true to the original and has retained Mahendran Jayaraj and Govind Vasantha as the film's cinematographer and music composer, respectively.
