Mani Ratnam 's Ponniyin Selvan update: Second schedule to begin soon

Mani Ratnam has been shooting his dream project, Ponniyin Selvan, based on Kalki's epic novel of the same name in Thailand since December 1. The latest update about the mega-budget period film is that the first schedule has been successfully completed with Karthi and Jayam Ravi, who play Vanthiya Thevan and Arul Mozhi Varman, respectively.

The second schedule is expected to begin soon, and Chiyaan Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who play Aditya Karikala Cholan and Nandhini, respectively, will reportedly join the sets in this schedule. 

Ponniyin Selvan, which has music AR Rahman, boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Vikram Prabhu, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Jayaram, Lal, Sarath Kumar, and Ashwin Kakamanu.

Co-produced by Lyca Productions and Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies, Ponniyin Selvan is expected to get a release in the summer of 2021.
