Dhanush's upcoming film, directed by Mari Selvaraj, which was tentatively referred to as D 41, has now been officially titled Karnan.

Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, the follow-up to Mari's Pariyerum Perumal will mark Malayalam actor Rajisha Vijayan's Tamil debut. 

Also starring Sandakozhi-fame Lal and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles, Karnan will have music by Santhosh Narayanan. This will be Santhosh's second collaboration with Mari and his third venture with Dhanush after Kodi and Vada Chennai.

Karnan is also expected to star cinematographer-actor Natty in an important role. 

Meanwhile, Dhanush's next release will be RS Durai Senthilkumar's Pattas, which will hit the screens on January 16. He also has Karthik Subburaj's untitled next, referred to as D 40; a film with Ratsasan-director Ramkumar; a project with his brother Selvaraghavan; and a film bankrolled by Sun Pictures, in various stages of production.
