Title font of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan revealed

CE Features

Mani Ratnam's upcoming multi-starrer has been officially titled Ponniyin Selvan. Adapted from the Tamil classic of the same name by Kalki, the title font of the film was released today on social media.

Boasting a stellar cast that includes names like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sarathkumar, Prabhu and Jayaram, the film went on floors in December. Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies are jointly producing Ponniyin Selvan. Actor-writer Kumaravel of Abhiyum Naanum-fame has co-written the project with Mani Ratnam, while writer Jeyamohan has provided the dialogues.

Ponniyin Selvan will mark AR Rahman's 17th consecutive collaboration with Mani Ratnam. After Kaatru Veliyidai, cinematographer Ravi Varman is teaming up with Mani Ratnam again for this film. Mani Ratnam's frequent collaborator Sreekar Prasad has been roped in for editing duties.

In an earlier announcement about the film going on floors, the absence of the lyricist's name was highly debated. The conspicuous absence of the lyricist credentials in today's announcement too has become a talking point. It may be remembered that there was social media outrage some time back over the alleged inclusion of #MeToo accused lyricist Vairamuthu in the project.
