Poorna roped in for Kangana Ranaut 's Jayalalithaa biopic Thalaivi

It is known that Kangana Ranaut is working on director Vijay’s Thalaivi, a biopic of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa. The latest on this project is that Poorna, who was last seen in Kaappaan, has been roped in to play a role. The actor confirmed this with a tweet.

“Delighted to announce that I am now officially part of Thalaivi, directed by Vijay sir. It's truly a wonderful opportunity to be associated with the biopic of the Iron Lady J Jayalalitha ma'am and to work alongside Kangana Ranaut, Arvind Swami, and Prakash Raj,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, the makers have unveiled a new poster of Kangana in a white saree with a black and red border, the colours of the AIADMK party. Unlike the earlier poster, which received much flak for the prosthetic make-up used, Kangana looks more like her natural self here. Notably, the Panga actor has gained ten-kilos for this role.

Apart from Kangana, Aravind Swami, Priya Mani, and Prakash Raj will be part of the film. While Aravind Swami plays the role of MG Ramachandran, Priya Mani will play Sasikala, Jayalalithaa’s close aide. Prakash Raj is said to essay the role of Karunanidhi. Thalaivi has music by GV Prakash Kumar.
