Accident claims the lives of three at the sets of Kamal Haasan-Shankar's Indian 2

We had previously reported that Kamal Haasan and director Shankar are reuniting for Indian 2 and the shooting is happening in EVP Film City on the outskirts of Chennai. It is now known that an accident that happened yesterday (February 19, 2020) around 09:30 pm at the sets has led to the death of three crew members and left nine people injured. 

According to reports, a crane carrying heavy light equipment gave way and crashed to the ground. Reliable sources state that two crew members died in the spot, while one more passed away while being taken to the hospital. The sources also state that the deceased are assistant director Krishna (34), and food in-charges, Madhu (29) and Chandran (60). The injured were apparently rushed to the nearest hospital. 

While several websites are also reporting that director Shankar suffered multiple fractures in his leg as a result of this accident, sources close to the team have denied this. It is also learned that Kamal Haasan was present at the spot when the mishap took place.
