With a certain section of fans of actor Vijay claiming that Oscar-winning Korean film Parasite is inspired by their favourite star's 1999 romcom Minsara Kanna, things have now taken a bizarre turn. The Tamil film's producer, PL Thenappan, has reportedly said that he is contemplating filing a case against the makers of the Bong Joon-ho film for lifting the basic plot of his film.

In interviews with media outlets, Thenappan has been quoted as saying that he is planning on hiring an international lawyer next week to explore the possibility of filing a case against the creators of Parasite.

Parasite, which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival, and four Academy Awards this year, is about a poor family of four, who infiltrate a wealthy household as workers. Minsara Kanna, on the other hand, traces a billionaire and his family, who take up work as household helps at his girlfriend’s home, in order to get them married.

Minsara Kanna's director, KS Ravikumar, had earlier told media outlets that he hasn’t seen Parasite, but "going by what people are saying, I think I should feel happy that I selected an Oscar-worthy story 20 years ago."
