Oscar Award-winning actor Anthony Hopkins, who is well known for his portrayal of Hannibal Lecture in The Silence Of The Lambs, shared a video clip celebrating his 45 years of sobriety.

The actor said, "45 years ago, this day, I had a wake-up call as I was heading for a disaster by drinking myself to death. I had a message in my head, which said: 'Do you want to live or die?' And I said I wanted to live! Suddenly, the relief came, and my life has been amazing."

The veteran actor also admitted that he had his 'off days' and 'little bits of doubts'. "All I say is hang in there. Today is the tomorrow you were so worried about yesterday. You young people, don't give up... just keep fighting. Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid. That's what I got to say. A Happy New Year! This is going to be the best year, thank you."

The actor was last seen in The Father, which was released in January this year. He also made his directorial debut with the film Elyse, which only had a VOD release on December 4.
