In honour of the late Chadwick Boseman, Marvel has announced that it will not recast the character of T'Challa for Black Panther 2.

Chadwick appeared as T'Challa in Captain America: Civil War and later in the stand-alone Black Panther film. His portrayal garnered a huge reception globally. Unfortunately, Boseman died on August 28 at the age of 43 after a four-year battle with colon cancer.

With a sequel — Black Panther 2 — on cards for release in July 2022, there wasn't much information about how Marvel would solve the issue about T'Challa's casting.

Kevin Feige, Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Studios, confirmed there will be no recasting of this icon for Black Panther 2, and said the sequel will continue to "explore the world of Wakanda and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film."
