CE Features

We had previously reported that Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut will be making her comeback to Tamil cinema with Thalaivi, a biopic of late Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa. Helmed by director Vijay, the film is on its last leg of shoot and Samuthirakani, who is said to play a pivotal role in Thalaivi, has wrapped up his portions.

Kangana shared working stills from the film via Twitter on Saturday to mark Jayalalithaa's death anniversary. Samuthirakani, on the other hand, shared photos from the sets and said, "I have completed my portions for Thalaivi. I thank director Vijay, Kangana Ranaut, Arvind Swami, the rest of the cast and crew."

Speculations state that Samuthirakani plays the role of RM Veerappan, who served as a Cabinet Minister in five governments from 1977 to 1996.

Produced by Vibri Media, Thalaivi will be simultaneously released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Apart from Samuthirakani and Kangana, the film also stars Arvind Swamy as MGR, Madhubala as Janaki, and Poorna as Sasikala.
