A new mini-series based on Stephen King's iconic novel The Stand is in the making. CBS All Access has now released a teaser of the series, which introduces Alexander Skarsgard as Randall Flagg and Whoopi Goldberg as the 108-year-old Mother Abagail.

The Stand is about the fight between the two sets of survivors of a global plague that wipes out most of the human population. The leftovers get split into two groups — one follows the mother and the other Randall Flagg. The series also stars  James Marsden and Amber Heard.

The novel came out in 1978 and was adapted into a miniseries back in 1994, directed by Mick Garris and starring actors such as Gary Sinise, Adam Storke, and Molly Ringwald.

The first episode of The Stand (2020) will premiere on CBS All Access on December 17 and the following seven episodes will be released weekly.
