Actor Chadwick Boseman, who was known for his work in Black Panther and Da 5 Bloods, passed away at his residence today. He was 43. 

In a statement shared on social media, the actor's representatives said that Boseman was battling colon cancer over the past four years and died in his home with his wife and family by his side. Despite being diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2016, and it progressing to Stage 4 over the years, Boseman worked on a lot of his landmark films in this duration in between his countless surgeries and chemotherapy sessions. 

Known for portraying real-life historical figures, Boseman's other famous rule includes T'Challa in Marvel's Black Panther, where he played the titular superhero. 

After a few roles, Boseman made his feature film debut as a lead with 42, in which he played the role of baseball legend Jackie Robinson. His other notable films include Get On Up, Draft Day, Marshall and 21 Bridges.

He was recently seen in Spike Lee's Netflix film, Da 5 Bloods, and will next be seen in George C Wolfe's upcoming film, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, which will be his final onscreen appearance.
