The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered a CBI investigation into the suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput. The apex court was hearing a petition of Rhea Chakraborty seeking transfer of investigation case from Patna in Bihar to Mumbai. Rejecting Rhea’s petition, the SC said that the Bihar government was competent to give consent for a CBI investigation into the FIR, reports state. The SC has also asked the Mumbai Police to hand over the collected evidence to the CBI.

Sushant’s father, KK Singh, had filed an FIR in Patna against Rhea and others, accusing them of money laundering and abetting Sushant’s suicide. A case was registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) based on the FIR.

Sushant died by sucide at his Mumbai home on June 14. He was 34.

The SC decision was welcomed by several celebrities as well as Sushant’s family.
