After a two-year hiatus, actor Mohan Babu has been signed to play the lead role in a new film titled Son of India. Touted to be an action entertainer spun with a patriotic theme, the film is being directed by renowned dialogue writer Diamond Ratna Babu. Produced jointly by Sri Lakshmi Prasanna pictures in association with 24 Frames Factory Banners, the film's title and first look poster was released today coinciding with the 74th Independence Day.

"It's a first-of-its-kind story that presents Mohan Babu in a never-seen-before role. The film will go on floors shortly. The other cast and crew are yet to be finalised," reads a statement from the makers.

Up next, Mohan Babu will be seen in Suriya's Soorarai Pottru, a film allegedly based on the events in the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the action drama will also be dubbed into Telugu as Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra.
