Ben Affleck will helm a movie that will document the behind-the-scenes action of the classic film Chinatown. Titled The Big Goodbye, the film is based on Sam Wasson’s book The Big Goodbye: Chinatown and the Last Years of Hollywood. Affleck will adapt this for the screen, and will also co-produce the film with Lorne Michaels.

Heralded as one of the best-made films ever, Chinatown was directed by the controversial Roman Polanski, who has been accused of sexual violence by several women. The 1974 film stars Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunway in the lead roles.

Affleck last donned the director’s hat for the 2016 gangster film, Live by Night. It is notable that Affleck’s 2012 film, Argo won the Best Picture Oscar for that year. The actor-director is currently shooting for The Last Duel, which resumed filming in Ireland.
