Indian 2 accident: Kamal, Shankar give Rs 1 crore cheque to families of deceased crew members

Following a crane accident on February 19 on the sets of Indian 2, Kamal Haasan, director Shankar, and Lyca Productions have given Rs 1 crore each to the families of the deceased. 

The accident happened at EVP Studios when a giant industrial crane carrying heavy lightning equipment crashed to the ground, killing crew members, including assistant director Krishna, art assistant Chandran, and production assistant Madhu. Kamal, Shankar and Kajal Aggarwal were among those present at the accident site and they had a narrow escape. Several others were left injured.

Post this, the team immediately announced financial aid of Rs 1 crore each to the families and a cheque for this was handed over to the family members today at FEFSI office in the presence of  FEFSI president RK Selvamani.

At present, the Indian 2 shooting has been halted due to the coronavirus pandemic and it is still uncertain when filming will resume. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions and directed by Shankar, the film stars Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Delhi Ganesh, Vivekh, and Bobby Simha, among others. The film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander.
