After Atrangi Re, actor Akshay Kumar and director Aanand L Rai will collaborate on another film titled Rakshabandhan. The film is written by Himanshu Sharma and the makers promise a family drama ‘with a celebration of sibling love in its purest form’.

Earlier this year, Aanand L Rai had announced his collaboration with Akshay, Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan on Atrangi Re. The romantic drama will go on floors in October in Madurai.

“Akshay is such a talented actor and I'm really excited to collaborate with him once again for Rakshabandhan,” Aanand said. “The film is a special tale which celebrates relationships in the most beautiful way."

Rakshabandhan will enter production next year and be released on November 5, 2021. The film is presented and produced by Akshay’s sister, Alka Bhatia, and Colour Yellow Productions in association with Cape of Good Films.

“Hardly ever in life does one come across a story that touches your heart so deeply and so instantly,” Akshay said. “It will make you laugh and it will make you cry. And it will make us realise how blessed are those who have sisters. It makes me happiest that my sister Alka is presenting and producing this film along with ace director Aanand L Rai.”

Akshay’s upcoming releases are Laxmmi Bomb, Sooryavanshi, and Bell Bottom. Aanand L Rai last directed Zero (2018), starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Anushka Sharma.
