Mithun Chakraborty’s father passes away in Mumbai, actor stuck in Bengaluru

Mithun was in Bengaluru for a shoot when the lockdown was announced and he has not able to return to Mumbai

Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty’s father, Basantakumar Chakraborty, passed away in Mumbai on Tuesday. He was 95. As per reports, he was battling age-related ailments for a while.

Mithun is presently stuck in Bengaluru due to the lockdown. The actor was in the city for a shoot when the lockdown was announced and was not able to return. He is reportedly trying to reach Mumbai to perform the last rites of his father.

On Wednesday, Bengali actor Rituparna Sengupta shared the news on Twitter and offered her condolences. “My deep condolences on the sudden demise of your father, Mithun Da. Stay strong and may his soul rest in peace forever,” she wrote.

Mithun’s mother, Santimoyee Chakraborty, and his eldest son Mimoh Chakraborty are presently in Mumbai, it is reported.
