Amitabh Bachchan’s Marathi film AB Aani CD will be re-released online after being withdrawn from theatres due to the coronavirus lockdown. The comedy-drama, which also stars veteran actor Vikram Gokhale, will now stream on Amazon Prime Video from Maharashtra Day (May 1).

Directed by Milind Lele, AB Aani CD is a coming-of-age film that follows two playschool mates — played by Bachchan and Gokhale — who meet almost after 70 years at a birthday party. Initially released on March 13, it was among the first films impacted by the nationwide shutdown of theatres.

Speaking about the decision to go digital, producer Akshay Bardapurkar said, “In the current circumstances, public safety and health is of paramount importance. It therefore made absolute sense to digitally debut this beautiful movie with our streaming partner Amazon Prime Video. We  are thrilled to release the film to mark Maharashtra Day and Labor Day as an ode to all our frontline heroes in the battle against COVID-19.”
