The production and release schedules of several films are in a quagmire after the COVID-19 outbreak has pushed countries across the world into lockdown mode. However, director James Gunn, who is helming both Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and the Suicide Squad sequel, has said his films will not face any delays due to the lockdown. 

In a Q&A session on Twitter, Gunn reassured fans about the fate of the two films. “Right now there’s no reason for The Suicide Squad release date to move. We are on or ahead of schedule. We were extremely fortunate to wrap shooting and set up editing from our homes (due to a post production team and studio with foresight) before quarantine,” he wrote, further adding, in a later tweet, that plans for GOTG Vol 3 “are also exactly the same as they were before coronavirus.” 

The Suicide Squad is scheduled for release on August 6, 2021 while Guardians of the Galaxy 3 does not have a release date yet. 

Notably, Disney recently pushed the release dates of several films, including those from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
