Robin Hood joins the list of Disney+ remakes

CE Features

Of late, Disney+ has been green-lighting newer versions of its earlier animated films, and the latest to join the list is the 1973 film, Robin Hood. The new version will be directed by Carlos López Estrada, best known for directing Blind Spotting. The script is being written by Kari Granlund, who also penned Disney’s recent remake of Lady and the Tramp.

Reports suggest that the deals were inked before the corona outbreak, and the film will be a Disney+ special. Similar to The Lion King, this film will feature its characters to be anthropomorphic using a combination of live-action and CGI.

Notably, Disney had earlier remade The Lady and the Tramp only for its streaming platform. The media conglomerate’s recent releases include The Lion King and Aladdin, both remakes, which surpassed the one billion mark at the global box office.
