CE Features

Malayalam film actor Kalinga Sasi passed away earlier today due to complications arising from liver disease. He was 59.

Sasi, originally known as V Chandrakumar, is famous for his supporting appearances in notable Malayalam films such as Pranchiyettan and the Saint, Vellimoonga, Amar Akbar Antony, and Amen.

Before appearing in over 200 films, the Kozhikode-based Sasi was a theatre veteran, having played over 500 characters in a 25-year span. Thakarachenda was the first film where he played a substantial part.

His most notable role was in Pranchiyettan and the Saint, directed by Ranjith. There was once news about him having been contacted by a Hollywood production team, but nothing was heard about it since then. Some even speculated that it was a Steven Spielberg venture.

Sasi is survived by his wife Prabhavati.
