Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh pledge to contribute to PM-CARES

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have pledged to contribute to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund. In a joint statement, the couple wrote, “In times like this, every bit counts. We humbly pledge to contribute to PM-Cares and hope that you will too. We are all in this together, and we shall overcome.”

Several Bollywood celebrities have contributed to relief funds set up to fight the coronavirus pandemic. They include Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Rajkummar Rao, Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal and others. Additionally, film bodies like the Producers Guild of India (PGI) and the Federational of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) have announced assistance to daily wage workers affected by the shutdown.

Ranveer and Deepika will be seen together in Kabir Khan’s 83. The historical sports drama stars Ranveer as cricket legend Kapil Dev, while Deepika has a special appearance in the film as Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev. The film, which was scheduled for release on April 10, has been indefinitely delayed.
