Lijo Jose Pellissery's new Malayalam film Jallikattu is among the '10 horror, sci-fi and genre films that blew minds' at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), according to popular review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.

The film, which was also selected for the BFI London Film Festival as well as Busan International Film Festival, earned raves at TIFF, with several critics describing it as a unique and exhilarating experience. Based on S Hareesh's short story, Maoist, Jallikattu tells the story of a village riddled by chaos after a bull runs amok.

In the Rotten Tomatoes list, Jallikattu, currently rated at 83%, joins other critically acclaimed entries such as Sea Fever (Ireland), Bacurau (Brazil), Gundala (Indonesian superhero film), Rian Johnson's murdery mystery Knives Out (starring Daniel Craig and Chris Evans), The Vigil (US), The Vast of Night (US), Synchronic (US),  La Llorona (Guatemala), and El Hoyo (Spain).
