Hyderabadi actor Abhinav Gomatam, who rose to fame with the films -- Ee Nagaraniki Yemaindi and Malli Raava -- is playing an entertaining role in Meeku Maathrame Cheptha. The new-age comedy-drama produced by actor Vijay Deverakonda will see director Tharun Bhascker in the lead role.

"I am playing a seemingly hilarious role. The film is an interesting take on an obsession with smartphones and the story narrates a series of instances on how these devices are invading our privacy in our day-to-day life. What you have seen in the trailer is a sample. The actual film will leave you in splits," reveals Abhinav.

Initially, the film was titled Evvaraki Cheppodhu, but the makers have opted to change it to Meeku Maathrame Cheptha after learning about another film releasing with a similar title. "Meeku Maathrame Cheptha is an important word and dialogue in the film. You will hear me saying it again-and-again like a catchphrase in the film," he adds.

On working with Tharun Bhacker, Abhinav says, "Tharun is an ultimate prankster on the sets. He likes to imitate another person's voice/mannerisms. I thought he can be a good actor, but never imagined that he will fit into the bill perfectly and aces up the game with his performance."

Abhinav will next be seen in a negative lead role in Sushant Akkineni’s new film and is also playing hero's sidekick in Venkat Atluri and Nithiin's Rang De.
