Todd Philips doesn’t want to release deleted scenes of Joker

CE Features

There seems to be an abundant amount of scenes that didn’t make the final cut of Todd Philip’s Joker. For instance, about 13 different scenes were shot for the moment where Murray (Robert De Niro) introduces Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) as Joker on his talk show.

Phoenix did something different each time when the curtain fell and he had to make his entrance to the show. Philips, in an interview, revealed that some of the other versions were good, which made him wonder why he ignored them for the final cut.

However, Philips doesn’t want the deleted footage to be released even in the home video version.

More often, the home video versions of films carry a lot of deleted sequences, which were not part of theatrical release. Philips was quoted as saying, “I hate deleted scenes. They’re deleted for a reason. The movie that exists is exactly the movie I want it to be and I will never show a deleted scene.”
