Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has been roped in to play a role in Ajay Gnanamuthu’s upcoming film with Vikram. Tentatively called Vikram 58, this film will see Irfan make his film debut. Irfan already has a Chennai connect, having played for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL in 2015.

The crew began shooting for the project earlier this month. Produced by Seven Screen Studio and Viacom 18 Studios, Vikram 58 will have music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Sivakumar Vijayan, and art by Amaran. It is rumoured that Priya Bhavani Shankar will play the female lead.

Intriguingly, another cricketer Sreesanth was recently roped in to play the villain in Hansika’s upcoming film. And today, it was also announced that Harbhajan Singh will make his Tamil film debut in Santhanam's Dikkiloona.

This is Ajay Gnanamuthu’s third film after Demonte Colony and Imaikka Nodigal. Vikram, on the other hand, was recently seen in Rajesh M Selva’s Kadaram Kondan.
