Suraj Venjaramoodu is set to reprise one of his iconic characters for a spin-off movie. Dasamoolam Damu, a supporting character he essayed in the Mammootty-starrer Chattambinadu, will be the main focus of an upcoming project. This will see Chattambinadu director Rafi team up with its scriptwriter Benny P Nayarambalam.

Though Chattambinaadu came out in 2009, Dasamoolam Damu gained popularity after troll pages began using his face to create memes. It's been a while since we have seen Suraj in a full-fledged comedy role. The actor has been doing remarkably well in serious roles lately. He did, however, get to exercise his comedic chops briefly in the recent Dileep-starrer Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel.

Suraj, who was last seen in Android Kunjappan alongside Soubin Shahir, is expected to begin shooting for the film early next year. It's not yet clear how many members from the Chattambinaadu cast will show up in the spin-off.
