Joker passes Dark Knight at the worldwide box office

Todd Phillips’ Joker has surpassed Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight at the worldwide box office by over ten million. According to reports, while Joker has grossed $1,018 billion so far, The Dark Knight's has earned $1,005 billion.

If Joker manages to make $63 million more, it will cross The Batman Begins to become the highest-grossing film in the Batman universe.

Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Joker polarised audiences worldwide. The film was critisised for promoting ‘violence and incel culture’. However, the film’s run at the box office has been robust and Joker has become the highest-earning R-rated film.

Joker, a non-comic book take on the popular villain, is also believed to be the most profitable comic book movie of all time.
