Director Srikanth Addala, best known for films like Kotha Bangaru Lokam, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, and Brahmotsavam, has been signed to direct the Telugu remake of the Tamil blockbuster, Asuran.

While an official announcement is awaited, producer Daggubati Suresh Babu, in a recent interview to a video channel, has confirmed that he has handed over the director's duty to Srikanth Addala. The original was directed by Vetri Maaran, and starred Dhanush and Manju Warrier in the lead roles.

The action-drama, an adaptation of Vekkai, a Tamil novel by Poomani, will see Venkatesh stepping into the shoes of Dhanush. Shriya Saran is being considered for Manju's role.

The story of Asuran revolves around a family feud through two generations, and one man's efforts to put an end to the burning issue, keeps it even brighter.

The remake will go on floors early next year.
