Joaquin Phoenix says his Joker is the real one, ends fan theories

A fan theory is making the rounds on social media which suggests that Joker's Arthur Fletcher is not the actual Joker of DC but an inspiration to the actual arch-nemesis of the Dark Knight. The theory further speculated that the real Joker is part of the mayhem in Gotham after Arthur shoots down Murray Franklin.

The fan theory was the result of Todd Philip’s recent statement. He said in an interview, “Maybe Joaquin’s character inspired the Joker. You don’t really know.”

However, Joaquin Phoenix has put a full-stop to the speculation. The actor stated that his version of the supervillain is the actual Joker. But Joaquin also added that the different interpretation of the film makes it more interactive.

He was quoted as saying, “I don’t want to ruin that by saying, ‘No, this is what it is.’ To me, there are so many different ways to view this character and his experience that I don’t think you can come up with a particular meaning.”

Joker has turned out to be a blockbuster across the world and has led to numerous debates about mental health and the idea of evil.
