Docuseries on the rivalry between Marvel and DC in works

CE Features

The rivalry between the giants, Marvel and DC is well known. Now, a docuseries titled Slugfest is being planned that will examine the decades-long rivalry between the comic book publishers. Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed Marvel films such as Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame, have been roped in as the executive producers for this series.

The show is based on Reed Tucker's 2017 book, Slugfest: Inside the Epic, 50-year Battle Between Marvel and DC. It will showcase the rise and growth of comics as an art form and how the two companies were the frontrunners of this medium. The series will also show the struggle these companies went through to become what they are now and also examine historic moments such as the crossover between DC's Superman and Marvel's Spider-Man in 1976.

Directed by Don Argott and Sheena M Joyce, the filmmakers behind the documentaries Believer and Framing John DeLorean, Slugfest will be produced by AGBO CEO Todd Makurath, Peter Rieveschl, Nick Gilhool and Jen Casey. The series is expected to be out April next year.
