Lata Mangeshkar admitted to hospital this morning, recovering now

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar was rushed to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital this morning after she developed breathing difficulties, reports claim. Her condition was said to be critical as she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and put on ventilator support. It’s claimed the singer had developed pneumonia and left ventricular failure. Meanwhile, an ANI update informs the singer has returned to her residence and is recovering.

Lata Mangeshkar turned 90 on September 28. On Sunday, the singer had wished good luck to actor Padmini Kolhapure for her comeback appearance in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Panipat

Lata has voiced over 1,000 Hindi film songs. Her musical career spans multiple industries and over 36 Indian and foreign languages.

Born Hema Mangeshkar in 1929 in Indore, she is the eldest daughter of renowned Marathi actor-musician Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar. Her siblings are singers Asha Bhonsle and Usha Mangeshkar, vocalist Meena Khadikar, and music director Hridaynath Mangeshkar. 

In 2001, Lata Mangeshkar was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.
