Writer-director Tahira Kashyap was invited at Ted Talks India Nayi Baat – hosted by Shah Rukh Khan –  to address her battle with breast cancer. She was among the 26 speakers on the show. The episode will be aired on November 10.

Tahira spoke about her journey from being diagnosed with breast cancer to spreading social media awareness against the malady.

Speaking about the opportunity to be on the show, Tahira said, "It’s a privilege to share this important platform with such amazing trailblazers and to be able to share my story has been a wonderful experience. The only reason behind coming out in the open is so that this message of early breast cancer detection is on top of everyone’s minds and that nobody should just sit on the symptoms or ignore them. The idea is not to instill fear, but to be mindful. This alone can change the mortality rate in India and the world.”

TED Talks India Nayi Baat features varied speakers who shed light on tackling major issues confronting India like healthcare, environmental awareness, and sexual abuse. The second season of the show started airing from November 2.
