Even as Bigil continues to break records at the box-offce, fans were in for a 'Verithanamana' surprise as the makers released the Verithanam video song today.

Composed by AR Rahman and sung by Vijay, Verithanam marked the first time the actor sang for the Oscar winner. The actor-composer duo have worked in four films before — Sarkar, Mersal, Azhagiya Tamizh Magan, and Udhaya.

The lyrics of this number are written by Vivek, who wrote the chartbuster, Aalaporan Tamizhan from Mersal.

Bigil, a sports drama, directed by Atlee, also stars Nayanthara, Yogi Babu, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, and Vivekh in important roles. Vijay played Michael and Rayappan in the film, the former a women football team's coach. Actors like Indhuja, Varsha Bollamma, Amritha, and Reba Monica John play footballers in the film, which was released this Diwali.
