Ranveer Singh to play a Gujarati man in YRF's Jayeshbhai Jordaar

CE Features

Ranveer Singh will play a Gujarati man in Yash Raj Films’ upcoming comedy entertainer, Jayeshbhai Jordaar. Produced by Maneesh Sharma, the project will be helmed by debutant writer-director Divyang Thakkar. Maneesh and Ranveer have previously collaborated on Band Baaja Baaraat and Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, both produced by YRF.

Jayeshbhai is a film with a big heart. In its concept as well as in its appeal, it encompasses the broadest spectrum of the cinema-loving audience. It's a film for everyone,” shares Ranveer, who is presently shooting for Kabir Khan’s ‘83

“The sheer brilliance of the writing compelled me to immediately green-light this film. Both humourous and poignant, Jayeshbhai is right up there with the most solid on-paper material I’ve ever come across,” he adds.

Maneesh says the script of Jayeshbhai Jordaar delivers a relevant message in an entertaining manner. On introducing a new storyteller with his upcoming production, the filmmaker adds, “What makes this a truly thrilling venture is that I see this as Ranveer and I ‘paying it forward’. Almost a decade ago, we started our journey together when YRF placed their faith in us newcomers and today we collaborate with Divyang to offer the audiences a content-driven mass entertainer.”

Jayeshbhai Jordaar will go on on floors in October and release after ‘83. The film will be shot in Gujarat. Ranveer Singh was last seen in Gully Boy and Simmba. He is a part of Karan Johar's upcoming directorial Takht
