We had earlier reported that Simbu, who was recently seen in a cameo in 90ml, will be essaying an important role in Hansika’s 50th film Maha — her first female-centric film - directed by debutant U.R.Jameel

Now, we hear that the actor, who had been to the UK to get in shape for his role in Venkat Prabhu's Maanadu, has joined the sets of the film in Chennai, putting to rest rumours that he would be playing a Muslim in the film, and that his scenes would be shot in Istanbul. The director took to Twitter to announce the same.

The director had apparently met the Chekka Chivantha Vaanam actor in the United Kingdom, and convinced him to play an extended cameo in his film.

STR had previously worked with Hansika in Vaalu, and was also supposed to collaborate with her in the now-scrapped Vettai Mannan.

Maha also assumes significance as it's the 25th film for music composer Mohammed Ghibran. Produced by Mathiazhagan under his Etcetera Entertainment banner, the film also stars Srikanth, Thambi Ramaiah, Karunakaran, Nasser, Jayaprakash, and Chaaya Singh in supporting roles.

Meanwhile, Simbu is expected to start shooting for the Mufti Tamil remake, bankrolled by Studio Green, and directed by debutant Narthan, after wrapping up Maanadu. He has also reportedly given the green signal to director VZ Dhorai for a sequel to his 2005 gangster thriller, Thotti Jaya.
