Vijay Deverakonda's Dear Comrade gets a release date

CE Features

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer, Dear Comrade, will get a release on July 26 in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

The romantic political actioner, which marks the directorial debut of Bharat Kamma, was supposed to arrive in cinemas on May 31, but the makers have decided to push the film's release by two months to get the widest possible release across the four South Indian languages.

"The film is an out-and-out commercial entertainer blended with action, romance and emotion. It shows Vijay and Rashmika in never-seen-before avatars. The shooting has been wrapped up and the post-production is simultaneously underway. The story is inspired by some true incidents, and we wanted to make sure that we reach out to as many people as possible with this universal story," reveals a source from the production.

Set in the backdrop of Kakinada, Dear Comrade has Rashmika playing a cricketer and Vijay portraying a student leader. Music director Justin Prabhakar makes his Telugu debut with this film, which also stars Malayalam actor Shruti Ramachandran in a crucial role.
