The audio of SJ Suryah and Priya Bhavani Shankar starrer, Monster, was released today. The director Nelson Venkatesan, producer SR Prabhu, music director Justin Prabhakaran, and other members of the cast and the crew were in attendance.
"I am extremely glad that a film of mine has got a U certificate, quipped Suryah, given the fact that none of his films has managed the feat in the past. "Most people think that I live a life like that of Sigappu Rojakkal Kamal, but in reality, I'm actually a simple, child-like person. I guess I've played a character close to my original persona for the very first time in this film." He added that children will definitely love Monster. "There is an inexplicable bond between kids and pet animals. The film has a lot of elements targetted at the kids, and I am sure they will lap it up.
Director Nelson Venkatesan, who had previously helmed Oru Naal Koothu, said that the story of Monster was inspired from his own life. "For my second film, I considered working on quite some genres, but finally, I decided that a film, based on my own experiences with a rat that had kept me sleepless for three days, will be interesting, and that's how Monster started." Nelson also claimed that they had used a real rat for shooting, without opting for a computer-generated image. "I felt a little bad when people, who saw the teaser, went on and on about the VFX of the rat being very realistic. Actually, we hadn't opted for VFX even for a single frame. Instead, we had a dedicated 20-day shoot involving only on the rat, where we randomly captured its movements till we got what we wanted."
The producer, SR Prabhu, who spoke finally, said that these days, there is a paucity of films that address the issues of the middle-class. "The majority of our people belong to the middle-class. But yet, most of our films end up being larger than reality. Monster will be a film which narrates the incidents in the life of simple people, just like the good old days of Bhagyaraj and Pandiarajan.
Monster has been scheduled to hit the screens on May 17.
